Friends, "The One with the Evil Orthodontist": Just leave her the message already

My review/recap of the April 6, 1995 episode after I cook toast or oatmeal naked.

Another "ehh" episode of Friends. It wasn't particularly funny or have any nice moments. It just came and went.

Barry and Rachel go a a date, even though Barry is currently in engaged to Mindy. Rachel realizes that she is still in love with him. After the group tells her that she needs to break up with him, she goes to his office to do so. Instead they end up having sex (twice!) on his orthodontist chair. Later that day, Mindy calls Rachel to get together and talk. Rachel is nervous because she thinks Mindy knows about her and Barry. However, Mindy asks Rachel to be her maid-of-honor, which Rachel accepts. Mindy also says that she thinks Barry is seeing someone else. Rachel why she thinks that, and Mindy says he was acting the same way when he was engaged to Rachel because Mindy was sleeping with him. This causes Rachel to admit that she was currently sleeping with Barry. The girls agree to go and break up with Barry.

Chandler is going crazy over a girl he just went on a date with. He doesn't want to seem needy, and at first doesn't want to call her back right away. After encouragement from the girls, he leaves a message and waits for days because she doesn't call him back. At the end of the episode, she tracks him down to Central Perk and tells him she didn't call him back because she had his number wrong. The rest of the group like the gesture, but Chandler doesn't think he will call her back because she seemed needy.

During all of this, someone in Ugly Naked Guy's apartment building is spying on them with a telescope, and the group is outraged that someone would spy on them. Joey gets the person's number and calls. Their rage goes away almost instantly, as the person compliments each of them.

Other notes:
  • Ugly Naked Guy's 7th mention on the show
  • Jennifer Aniston is the "other woman." Happened to her later in real life with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and recently it has reported that she was the "other woman" to current-boyfriend Justin Theroux
Funniest parts of the episode:
  • Joey's phone conversation with Sidney, the voyeur
  • Joey walking in on Rachel and Mindy and then Rachel and Monica hugging
Sign of the times: Chandler using Central Perk and then Monica's phone, because no one had a cell phone at the time

Another dull episode, that will probably be forgotten. Nothing funny or important really happened. Let's just move on.
