Summer TV and current show that will be reviewed

Summer is the worst time for television. All of the networks (CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX) have finished their seasons and show reality shows and shows that just are not very good. AMC's hits (Breaking Bad and Mad Men) are not on (though Breaking Bad's Season 4 is beginning July 17), and I don't watch the shows on USA. The one show that I started watching and will be reviewing is TNT's Falling Skies.

Falling Skies is about the chaotic aftermath of an alien attack which has left most of the world completely incapacitated. In the six months since the initial invasion, the few survivors have banded together outside major cities to begin the difficult task of fighting back. Each day is a test of survival as citizen soldiers work to protect the people in their care while also engaging in an insurgency campaign against the occupying alien force.

It stars Noah Wyle, of ER fame, as Tom Mason, a former college professor who becomes the leader of a group of soldiers and civilians, and Moon Bloodgood, as Anne Glass,  a therapist who works with the surviving children to help them cope with the traumatic situation.

Four episodes have already aired and it has kept my attention. It's certainly not a "game-changer" but it is worth a watch. The stand out character has been John Pope, played by Colin Cunningham. Pope was the leader of a post-apocalyptic gang who is captured by Mason's group of soldiers.

Falling Skies airs Sundays at 10pm. My reviews will (hopefully) be up the following Monday afternoon.
